Visually Speaking

The Basics ASL course online is for people who have no previous (or very little) experience with ASL. This course covers learning the alphabet, finger-spelling, introductions, asking questions, colors, numbers, time, emotions and much more. At the end, students will have the confidence and vocabulary to engage in conversations with the signing community.

Having a basic grasp on sign language will enhance your ability to interact with a variety of people who rely on sign language as their main mode of communication. For more than two decades, the Deaf signing community has relied on visual communication through online means with our videophones and videoconferencing technology. Now, we are using our cultural practices to open up our digital world to you.
